"Noir et Blanc" by Jean-Paul Loppo Martinez

The artistic ability of Jean-Paul Loppo Martinez defies traditional description. Inspired by a combination of Postmodernism and Art Deco, the glamorous female forms created by Martinez are more about the essence of life. Born in Brittany , France to a French mother and Spanish father, his love of women, like any typical Frenchman, is engrained in his soul. “I truly believe they are the stronger sex, and they are definitely the more interesting,” he says.

From the time his young hands could hold a brush or pencil Martinez was creating art. His mother enrolled him in an art school at the age of seven, and five years later he enrolled himself into the Fine Arts School of Versailles. At the age of 16 he was accepted to the École Supérieure Estienne des Arts in Paris and found his niche in engraving.

Under the direction of master engraver Rob ert Dutrou, Martinez was inspired and soon surrounded by royalty in the art world. There he worked with legendary artists Picasso, Miró, Tapies, Adami, Bellmer, Pappart, and Rodo-Boulanger among many others. It didn't take long before Martinez established himself as an acclaimed engraver and artist. Driven to discover, he also found success as a musician, producer and scriptwriter, and fashion designer, living by the self-proclaimed philosophy that “An artist needs to possess not only cultural, but also creative maturity.”

It wasn't until Martinez met his soul mate in life and art, Cecile, that the breakthrough in creative maturity occurred where his philosophy and love of life could truly be expressed in his work. His paintings, drawings, art books, fashion designs and accessories, and furniture created a sensation in Europe and Japan , thanks to his beautifully rendered representations of the contemporary woman.

His unique artistic vision allows Jean-Paul Loppo Martinez many creative outlets to continue on with his life-long passioin of accentuating the female form.

In 2001 he was selected by the featured artist for the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation's "Grand Slam for Children." His painting, Waiting for Our Children, was auctioned at the gala event with all proceeds going to charity.
