WALDEMAR SWIERZY
Swierzy lives and has his studio in Warsaw, Poland. Since S2 Art opened its atelier in the new Arts District, he has traveled to Las Vegas to create widely-admired and collected limited edition, hand-signed, hand-pulled lithographs. His immersion in American culture has led to his current focus: capturing the essence of Las Vegas nightlife.

His work continues to freely represent the pure, sophisticated images of the Sixties to Pop art, abstracts, surrealism, collage and photographic techniques. Known for its painterly quality, technique and composition, as well as its originality and feeling of spontaneity, “Swierzy’s works are always fresh, easy and entertaining,” wrote fellow artist Niklaus Troxler in the book, Swierzy. “They are full of a joy of life, humor and optimism…and there is no end to the approaches Swierzy introduces.”

The vital 73 year-old has won awards for his work, including gold medals in the Polish Poster Biennale; several 1st prizes from the Hollywood Reporter for movie poster designs; and gold and bronze medals at 1985’s “Jazzpo,” the International Jazz Salon in Bydgoszcz, Poland. His artwork has been shown internationally, including the Smithsonian Institute’s Traveling Exhibition, Warsaw’s Muzeum Miejskie Wroczawia for the Masters of theTwentieth Century Series and one-man shows at the Galeria Grafiki and the Galeria Letnia Muzeum Nadwislanskiego Kazimierz Polny.
