Muse Points

Help inspire our artists through critical review!

Muse points are a reflection of how much you are inspiring others in the community. You acquire them by contributing to the community or they can be given to you by others. You can redeem them for artwork. Otherwise, if you are selling art on d'ART, you can use them to submit art to the critique's corner (think of it as quid pro quo) or convert them for a free advanced membership. To get started, you will need to register with d'ART. Login to My d'ART to see your current muse points at the bottom of each page. (enacted 1/27/09)

Earn Muse points by:points
Rate an art piece 1
It only takes one mouse click! Simply click on the 1-5 star rater under an art piece. Search for art pieces in the Critic's Corner. Limit 200 ratings per day.
Post a comment+1-16 (+?)
Post a critique or comment in the Critic's Corner and you will earn 1-16 points (+ accrued recommendation points) depending on the length of the post. Be careful of spam posts! Poor quality posts will also lose points over time, but a quality critique could earn you thousands of muse points over it's lifetime. Refer to losing points. No limit per day!
Comment recommendations+2 / +8
If someone recommends a comment or critique made by you, you get muse points. You get +2 for anonymous users (not logged in) and +8 from users that are registered. This lasts for the lifetime of the post. Making a smaller number of quality posts is much more beneficial than a larger number of poor posts. No limit per day!

Redeem Muse point for:cost
ArtworkVariable
Click the link above to find art pieces available for muse point redemption. Please refer to the "seller comments" field in the art piece to determine how many muse points are required and how many art pieces are available. Some pieces may have additional shipping and handling charges. Stock will change based on sales and redemptions by others.
Submitting art to The Critic's Corner3 + incremental
If you reach your daily limit of submissions to the Critic's Corner (based on your membership), you can use muse points. The first art piece you submit costs 3, the next costs 4, the next costs 5, etc. The cost counter resets daily. Resubmitting: Use your inventory manager to remove and resubmit the same art piece to the Critic's Corner. This will push it to the top. You can do this without additional cost until the art piece gets it's first comment or rating. After that, it costs +20 muse points for each comment not made by you and +2 muse points per rating.
Recommending a Comment or Critique3
Recommending another member's comment or critiques costs you 3 muse points, but gives them 8.

How to lose muse points:cost
Poor critiques or comments-2
You lose 2 muse points if someone disagree's with your comment or post. Over time, a poor post can lose all of the initial points it provided but will never cost you points.
Deleted comments-1 - 16 (-?)
You will lose all the points you received if your comment or critique is deleted. This also includes accrued points. Posts can be deleted by the moderator, but critiques can also be deleted by the owner of the art piece. Refer to the Critic's Corner rules for more information on this.
Spamall
If you spam comments or ratings, we will take your muse points away without warning. This includes artificially making your posts longer. Additionally, we run algorithms to determine statistical ratings outliers. We understand your opinion may be different from the norm, but please support your ratings with comments if you feel this is the case. Our artists want to know your opinion. Please do not try to take advantage of this program.
