At the Vineyard

ProfileThe gracefulness of the woman in the painting held my attention immediately. Her idealized form presents an archetype; it seems to me that she's more than simply a worker in a field. She's the spirit of the vines themselves, embodying their grace, class, and youthful potential to develop into fine w...  10/27/2012
ProfileIt's the little gestural touches in this piece that I enjoy, such as the way that the tilt of the figure's head is echoed by the curls of her hair and the shape of her hands. The painting style really puts emphasis on that gestural movement, which works well in this piece.  10/8/2012
ProfileI like a mix of bright colors , very nice accurate lines, that are slowly transitioning from one object to another. Lovely piece  9/2/2012
ProfileBeautiful. I really like your abstracted treatment of the face. That is where I personally get stuck. How much can I get away with NOT including. You have done a great job. Nice colors throughout and beautiful flowing lines on her arms, head, neck and torso.

October Glow

ProfileThis piece makes effective use of dark and light, keeping the darks very dark and the lights with a subtle glow. Texture is handled masterfully here in the reflective surfaces as well as the faint sheen of the figure's skin. The composition is also very well done.  9/10/2012
ProfileI love the playful nature of the lighting in this piece, with some subjects backlit while the others burst out of the print in sudden flashes of color. The detail of the musculature in the woman's back and shoulder is beautifully done -- she looks solid and real.  8/21/2012
ProfileLovely game of colors, shapes and forms. Interesting choice of putting leaves in a front focus of a painting. Nice work.  8/21/2012
ProfileThis is an absolutely gorgeous piece. The way in which you handled the light, the shapes in the fabrics, and the color in this work is just amazing. If you would ever be interested in showing at the Straube Center Gallery, or if you would like to sell through us, please let me know! I'd be more than...

Dance of Passion

ProfileHot painting. Nice lines and shades, great job with a red color. It certainly transfers the mood and passion.  8/27/2012
ProfileI love the dark, moody colors used for this piece. The slightly muted selection of colors helps keep the focus entirely on the dancer, while the pronounced texture difference between the background and the dress stops it from being confusing to the eye.  8/25/2012
ProfileI love this painting! It has a lot of feeling and a message. great color combination, it all flows together really well. And very nice job with the BRUSHWORK, I believe that over all makes it unique and really brings it to life. Great job!
Profile Nice use of composition, color, tone, value and brushwork. A fine piece of artwork. Keep it going!
ProfileI really like the hue used to establish contour of this piece!

Jeweled Reflections

ProfileBeautiful work  12/28/2012
ProfileThe sweeping movements of the fish and the presence of watery shadows make this a piece very soothing to the eyes. I love its suggestion of hidden depths, as well as the jewel-like colors that dominate the work.  10/27/2012
Profilethis is really nice piece. The color mix are just perfect! I like transformation from light to dark, and a red colored fish are certanly in a focus of a picture. Good work!  9/2/2012
ProfileNice composition. The simplicity of the palette really focuses the viewer's attention on the implied movement of the koi. I also like that you kept it general instead of using fine detail so that the emphasis is on the movement.  8/29/2012
Profilewonderful colour! gives you the feeling you are underwater, just lovely.

White Dress (on mirror)...

ProfileThe word that comes to mind is "pathos." A vulnerable figure, impersonal since we have only a back view from the shoulders down--the dress is more a character than the figure herself.  10/3/2012
ProfileInteresting photo, it makes me feel a little bit lonely and in the same time calm.I like how you captured a lady on the photo, and white&black style are certanly making this picture special.  9/23/2012
ProfileThe angle and contrast combine to almost make this look like a charcoal sketch, particularly in the curve of the model's shoulder. The effect is a little eerie to me, blurring the line between the real and the imagined.  9/17/2012

"A Touch of Warmth"...

ProfileSimple and beautiful. Background color leave no choice but to put all the focus on a flowers, while their color is so bright and reminds me of summer and warm days.  11/10/2012
ProfileSomething about the composition of this image reminds me of a family portrait, as if the flowers are lined up for a backyard snapshot. That quality brings the viewer to see each individual flower more closely. I like the varied neutral of the background.  10/3/2012
ProfileThe neutral wash sets off the blossoms quite well; their vivid color really pops off the canvas, particularly when contrasted with the very dark stems and leaves. The watermark detracts quite a bit from viewing it in this medium, though, as on my screen I can't see the center blossom at all.  9/17/2012

Leaving Las Vegas

ProfileThis is hot painting. Basic story of woman waiting on a side of a road, but the classic style here is just awesome, the old car, old baggage. Nice lady of course in a centere of a picture getting all the attantion of a viewer. Great job.  9/2/2012
ProfileI chose this for my graduation present. I love the girl with her economic dancer's build, flowing messy hair and the period car and suitcase. So many questions about what's happened to her and what's going to happen. I like to think that she's hitching a ride to come and see me!
ProfileVery interesting picture, leaving a lot for the imagination. Beautifully painted.
ProfileOriginal must be nice. -b jAXON

"The Intermission"...

ProfileI love the use of color, and the uneven edging around the face. They both hint at the face "as Mask", and provide the image a theatrical feel. I wish I knew what she was looking at... Bravo!  8/18/2013

ProfileThis painting would make an excellent bed spread  12/28/2012
ProfileThis is interesting painting, i think i see some kind of siluet here, but this could be only my imagination. i also this there is some kind of line dividing this painting, so it holds some kind of meaning, i find it intriguing.  9/29/2012
ProfileThe muted tones and indistinct forms of the majority of this painting work well as a foil for the highlighted verticals on the right side. I like how these verticals are echoed and contradicted in the vertical and horizontal marks at left. It would be interesting to see this piece up close to examin...  9/19/2012
ProfileThe division between the two halves of the pieces gradually fades, suggesting meaningless boundaries. The effect on the right side is very curious to me -- like shattered glass.  9/16/2012
