Francois "Fanch" Ledan was born in 1949 in France. While Ledan's early studies where in commercial design, in 1968 he quickly left to study painting and fine art full time. He quickly gained recognition and he was part of some very notable European shows. Ledan became renowned for his amazing images of his birthplace of Brittany which were done in what was considered as a vibrant "primitive" technique. In 1973 he began learning lithography in Paris. Since 1973 Ledan has had more than 25 single artist shows throughout Europe, North America and South America. His 'windows on the world" notion serves as a unique way to make normal background components the center of attention. His colorful images are completely current with classical implications and the brilliantly integratedlook of modern media. The joining of interior and exterior settings is a well recognized style in many of Fanch Ledan's works.
