I am an admirer of many different types of art but my passion has always been for realistic and impressionist pieces done with character and emotion. The works of Vermeer, Degas, Monet, and Norman Rockwell are some of my favorites. In my own work, I try to create a welcoming atmosphere to my landscapes - to create a place where the viewer can imagine being and experiencing, not just a pretty view. I paint mostly in acrylics - I am too impatient for oils and I also appreciate the flexibility allowed with acrylics that can't be achieved with oils. I also do pencil, charcoal, and ink drawings as well as some watercolor. As a child and then teenager, I drank in every art class available but have no true formal training or degree in fine arts. I do hold a certificate in Commercial Art from a technical school and spent many years in the printing industry producing and supervising graphic designs both mechanical and digital.I have only recently begun to devote my full attention to painting and am enjoying every minute of it. I've been married for 28 years to the same lucky man, am the mother of two grown children and grandmother of four beautiful grandchildren. In my spare time I read, surf the web, cook, and do crafts.
