This strange disembodied head was originally a large work painted in watercolours. The original is no longer in my possession, but I have developed this image from a photograph hence the sub-title of the work. There are references to the Easter Island Gods in this series.

I am a 'New Media' Artist and Photographer living and working in Bath. Starting as a conventional media artist (waterclours, acrylics, pen and ink etc) in recent years I have moved completely into the field of digital and new media fine arts. My works are created from under paintings drawn in a variety of sources - ranging from traditional mediums (watercolours, acrylics, inks etc) - to photographs, and original digital images, all of which are recomposed and/or finished digitally. I am convinced that the web is the key to the democratic future of the visual arts. I get much positive critical feedback from buyers of my art, and visitors to my on-line art sites, which together receive millions of hits each year. I also use the virtual environment to share critiques and associate with an international group of fellow artists, collectors and art lovers. The subjects and styles I employ in my art and photography range ascoss the entire face of modernism and incorporate elements of conceptual art.I am a member of the 'For Now' group of artists in Bath. Profile Very nice work and use of color David.  4/13/2012
Profile The original upon which this is based was a large piece painted in watercolours on heavy watercolour paper entitled 'Totemic Head'. The piece is no longer in my possession, so I developed this work from an old photograph scanned into a digital form, hence the 'rescued' part of the title. There are...
Profile Love the mirror effect. Is the mask computer generated or from a photo originally? I have a small collection of Balinese masks - it never occurred to me to use them in Photoshop but they would be great to work from. Thanks for the idea, David!
Profile This is a personal favourite of mine, in part because of the strange story behind the final image. davidB: )
Profile The original, which was very large by my standards (A2 sized) watercolour on heavy watercolour paper, was sadly lost in a change of address. All I possessed for may years was a treasured photograph, taken through glass and at an oblique angle (to avoid the problem of flash-back). Many years later th...
