Raised in Hollywood , FloridaJonathons mother was a pianist and his father , a photographer and professional gambler. He entered and won numerous awards all through school and went on to receive a BFA in Painting from The Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida and a MFA in drawing in Mexico. Supporting himself while pursuing his career he wrote songs and sang and played the guitar in nightclubs and concerts. Along the way he got into writing documentaries and from there producing, and directing films on the Navajos in Arizona and New Mexico.He began his professional career drawing and painting the Navajo and then his musical friends. From there it was a natural step to Jazz and Blues musicians on and off the stage. Hes had shows from the West Coast to Paris France and have been traveling and painting for the last 20 years.Starting out he captured on canvas the feel of the people as he saw them and not as they appeared to the public.
