These Fine Art, spiritually inspired, pencil drawings are close kin to the Zen circle or Enso. Expressed in these drawings is a contemporary and elegant symbol of our original spirit, free and infinite in scale. With hand and pencil, the artist has created expressive, calligraphic gestures in a kind of spiritual practice culminating in these beautiful simple forms.
With a natural contemporary wood frame, a black lacquer frame or frame of accent color, these drawings display elegantly on a dark colored home or office wall. Conducive to group display, a pair, trio or even foursome or more of these drawings create a powerful contemporary statement. The artist is available for counsel and advice on creating drawing combinations for groupings and happy to accept on commission the creation of any grouping of new drawings the collector may desire.
Much of my work might be characterized by pattern, repetition and layering of pencil or brush strokes, color and object abstractions on paper or canvas. At the root of my work is an exploration of the quality of the line, mark and stroke of the pencil or brush. I think of my work as a spiritual practice. I strive to create a brush stroke that is "alive" in much the same way the Zen calligrapher creates a line that is "alive" by focusing the mind.
