Diane Romanello is a self-taught artist whosescenic paintings are characterized by a sense ofbeauty and romance, inviting the viewer into aserene, natural world. Whether depicting pastelflower gardens lining a promenade, brick lanes, leading to lake fronts, or boardwalks whichinvite a walk on the beach, her images suggestthe memory of a treasured place. The artist states,"I want the viewer to feel as though they canstep right into my work."Diane's paintings blend luxuriant and soothingcolor with sumptuous texture, her brush strokesevident in every image. Her luminous beachscenes, landscapes, gardens and countryretreats merge elements of fantasy with realism, accomplished by the artist's keen sense of light, texture and composition. When it comes to being a super star in the worldof poster artists, there are few who have thename recognition and staying power ofDiane Romanello. Known for her images thatput a romantic and dreamlike spin on reality,Diane feels grateful shes able to share her workin poster form. Art shouldnt just be for thosewho can afford to buy originals; art should beaccessible for everyone who needs a little joyand peace in their lives, she says. Ms.Romanello has published nearly 100 posters todate: 65 of them have been in print for at leastfive years, and 30 of them have been in print forat least ten years. When Diane was in her early30s she decided to go into business for herself. Itwas a toss up between opening an Art Galleryor a Baskin & Robbins. When she opened theGallery, she was carrying other peoples art anddoing custom framing. It was in that businessthat she began to paint for profit. In order tosatisfy some of her decorator clients, Dianebegan doing large abstract and impressionisticcanvases - to match peoples couches. That ishow she began; but never cared much forthose paintings and decided to paint what sheliked. I read a lot of books on technique andtried a variety of ideas until I found my niche.I started painting winter scenes of New York Cityand to my amazement, customers startedbuying my paintings. My New York winter pieceswere my first four postersSpending half of her year in the northeast andthe other half in Florida, Diane has developedan eye for the tranquility of the outdoors. Hervistas have a vision of places that at onceseem familiar and inviting-places that perhapswe have visited and long to return to. Oneonly has to view a Romanello horizon toescape for a moment to a peaceful place.

Also I must say you have done very well with the landscape, very realistic. You've done great with the water as well. Nice job seperating the water from the sky at the horizon. Other artists have had trouble with this. |

This painting is amazing. I see nothing wrong with it. Beautiful. Wonderful colors. This painting stands out amongst the others. It is the first one I have viewed on this page. |
