This work was the result of an afternoon ride to the city when I came across a Peterbuilt Dealership with this 1976 Bi-centennial edition of a Peterbult Capover Truck. The Chrome on this big rig just needed to be painted, period.
Peter Ring is a self-educated aviation artist well known for his "photo realistic" paintings of commercial and military aircraft. Peter paints primarily in acrylic, though he occasionally does pencil drawings. Painting aviation art is his way of staying close to aviation, to convey its thrill, and of showing what airplanes look like up close and at their best angles. Peter's exhibitions include Cincinnati Milacron, Worcester, Ma (1976), the New England Exposition, Boston, Ma (1992), the Gorman Gallery at the EAA Air Adventure Museum, Oshkosh, Wisconsin (1993-1994), Horizons of Flight Exhibition & Competition, Dallas/Fort Worth Airport (1994), the Bradley Air Museum, Windsor Locks, Ct (1995), The American Airline C.R. Smith Museum at Fort Worth, Texas (2000), The Worcester Artist Group, Worcester, Ma (2003), The Harbor View Cafe in The Eaton Vance building Boston, Ma (2003), and aviation school Daniel Webster College, (2004). Peter is a member of the American Society of Aviation Artists (ASAA), the New York Society of Illustrators, The Worcester Artist Group (WAG), ART Worcester, and the prestigious Air Force Art Program. Art work that Peter has donated to The Air Force Art Program include "Night Moves," "Spirits Up Lifted," "When Stars Gather," "F35 Thunderbirds," and "Westover Salute." Peter has also been the artist for Westover Air Base in Chicopee Ma since 1998, creating posters, and brochure covers for their bi-annual air show. In a special edition of Private Pilot magazine entitled "Aviation Art Gallery," (1998) Peter was listed in the Who's Who in aviation art. Peter has also been featured in various publications such as Code One magazine The Patriot and many local newspapers. During the summer of 2004 Peter's work was published in a book called Jet Planes of the Third Reich, The Secret Projects. The picture is Peter's impression of a Messerschmitt ME P 1108/11 long-range bomber from 1945. Peter has donated paintings to many charities, the Corporate Angel Network (CAN), (2003), which provides mercy flights on corporate aircraft for cancer patients. In 1996 Peter donated to Westover Air Base "Touch Down," a painting that depicts a C5 Galaxy Landing in a thunderstorm.
